Tonight we present a commemoration of  International Women's Month with our second annual program dedicated to presenting some of the women who have contributed to the music of Cuba. We will hear early singers such as Maria Teresa Vera, Sexteto Anacaona, Paulina Alvarez, Rita Montener, Celeste Mendoza and Las Hermanas Marquez, as well as contemporary singers like Vannia Borges, Halia Mompie, Yeny Valdes and Myra Caridad Valdes.

In honor of KPFA FM's 60th Anniversary and an "All Day Music" broadcast, Cuba Canta offers a retrospective popouri spanning a century of Cuban Music, from Danzon to Son, Mambo to Mozambique, and Trova to Timba.

For the final stretch broadcast veteran Emiliano Echeverria is joined by KPFA Music Director and Con Sabor host Luis Medina, spinning releases including Michael Blanco, Gerado Piloto y su Klimax. Los Van Van, and more!

Also concerning recent developments in President Barack Obama's administration dealing with US - Cuba political relations, Emiliano speaks with San Francisco-based Cuban visa attorney Bill Martinez on the latest challenges and opportunities for US-Cuba music and cultural exchanges.
